About PenAir

PenAir, which is short for Peninsula Airways, was based in Anchorage, Alaska and was a U.S based regional airline. For the state of Alaska, it was their 2nd largest commuter airline, which also chartered and provide medical evacuation services. It had a codeshare agreement with Alaska Airlines, which is a U.S major airline. They operated out of the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

PenAir stopped operating in June, 2019 and begun marketing and selling their flights through Ravn Alaska.

If you're looking for regional flights within Alaska, we recommend flights with Ravn Alaska, as they connect many communities across the state.

Cabin Classes

PenAir or Peninsula Airways, had a single cabin class on their flights. This was Economy Class or otherwise referred to as Standard Seating. The airline was regional and only operated short-haul routes, meaning they focused on a single class layout, which could accommodate to all passengers. Their fleet consisted of comfortable Turboprop aircrafts, which were ideal for regional flights.

In-flight Entertainment

On a PenAir flight, you would not have found an in-flight entertainment system. Due to the aircrafts they operated, they couldn't provide options, such as seat-back screens or streaming services. Any passengers that flew on PenAir, would have been expected to provide their own forms of entertainment.

Check-in

PenAir offered multiple check-in options for passengers, including online check-in through their website or mobile app and traditional counter check-in at the airport.

Passengers are typically required to check-in by a certain time before their scheduled departure time. This varies depending on the airport, flight and airline, so it's important for passengers to arrive at the airport with enough time to complete the check-in process and any necessary security procedures - we recommend arriving at least 2 hours before your flight.

Baggage Policy

Checked Baggage

PenAir passengers were typically allowed to bring a certain amount of checked baggage free of charge, which had to adhere to the airlines weight and size restrictions. There would have been an additional fee for excess baggage or oversized items.

Carry-on Baggage

Travellers could have bought one carry-on bag, with an additional personal item (e.g purse or laptop bag) into the cabin. This baggage would need to fit the size and weight restrictions chosen by the airline.

Destinations that PenAir flew to

As of June 2019, PenAir flights in Alaska, were operated in partnership with Ravn Alaska, except for the route to Dutch Harbor / Unalaska. For that route, PenAir functioned on a capacity purchase agreement, meaning Alaska Airlines marketed and sold the flights while PenAir operated them.
