Alternatives to Airbahn

Airbahn has failed to launch as of 2022. Please take a look at the alternative airlines below that operate similar flights to Airbahn. Breeze Airways and Avelo Airlines are 2 other airlines that launched in the US in 2021.

Airbahn has ceased operations

In May 2022, Airbahn had its Transport Certificate revoked by the Department of Transportation, therefore, it will no longer be launching and has ceased operations.

Please take a look at the alternative airlines below that fly similar routes to Airbahn.

About Airbahn

Airbahn was a US start-up airline that was scheduled to launch in 2021. The airline would initially fly across the west of the US and Canada, with plans to fly to Mexico further down the line. Airbahn was set to be based in California. Although the exact airport that it planned to use as its hub had not been confirmed, the airline would either use Long Beach Airport or Orange County Airport. The airline was a sister airline of Pakistan's Airblue and was owned by the same people.

Airbahn planned to offer low-cost flights but still wanted to deliver on providing a great service. It was likely to offer a seat-only fare and would allow passengers to add extra things to their booking, allowing those that are willing to pay a little extra to personalise their flight.

The airline was supposed to launch in 2019. However, its launch was delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Its new launch date hadn't been officially announced, as the airline was still in the process of obtaining all the necessary approvals that it needed in order to fly. Although, it was expected that the airline would launch flights at some point before the end of 2021.

Airbahn ultimately had its Transport Certificate revoked in 2022, ceasing all plans for launch.

Baggage Allowance

As the airline was yet to launch flights, the free baggage allowances were unknown. However, we have some idea of what it may have offered based on what we know about the airline so far.

Carry-on Baggage

From what we know about the airline, it was expected that it would offer free carry-on baggage to all passengers, much like many other airlines that are similar to Airbahn.

Checked Baggage

Based on the fact that Airbahn would offer low-cost flights with a basic fare, it was unlikely that passengers would be given a free checked baggage allowance. Instead, passengers would most likely be able to add baggage onto their flight at an extra cost.

Check-In Information

Check-in information was not available for the airline. However, the airline was almost certain to offer online check-in via its website.

For passengers that couldn't or didn't want to check-in online, there would be an option to check in at the airport, in person.

Class Fares

Economy Class

Early information on the airline suggests that it would offer a one-class cabin with around 170–180 seats. This cabin would be Economy Class. Additional services on the flight such as entertainment, food and drink and extra legroom seats were unknown.

Destinations

None of Airbahn's destinations had been confirmed. However, the airline was expected to fly between California, Nevada and destinations within Canada. Once it had launched and begun flying initial routes, the airline was expected to fly to Mexico as well. The only two destinations that had been associated with Airbahn are Long Beach and Orange County, which were both potential hubs for the airline.

Hub Airport

Airbahn didn't have a hub airport. The airline was supposed to be based in Southern California. Long Beach Airport or Orange County Airport are the two airports that the airline was looking to base itself. With JetBlue no longer flying from Long Beach, Long Beach Airport was the frontrunner to become Airbahn's hub.

Fleet

The airline planned to launch with an Airbus A320, which it would take from Airblue. Beyond that, it was unknown which planes the airline would add to its fleet.

Frequently asked questions

When will Airbahn launch flights?
