InterCaribbean Airways is an airline that offers scheduled passenger flights around the Caribbean. The airline is based at Providenciales International Airport and flies to many destinations across more than 10 Caribbean islands, including to locations within Antigua, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
The airline is also the only non-Jamaican airline to offer domestic flights within Jamaica. As well as scheduled passenger flights, interCaribbean Airways also offer charter flights to Caribbean destinations.
The airline was launched in 1991 as a charter airline under the name Interisland Airways. In 2003, the airline entered scheduled services and rebranded as Air Turks & Caicos. In 2013, to reflect its intention to offer flights across the Caribbean, the airline rebranded again to interCaribbean Airways, which is the name and branding that it uses today. Following the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the airline is looking forwards to welcoming travellers back to the Caribbean once again, and is committed to the safety of its passengers.
Baggage Policy
InterCaribbean Airways has different baggage policies for carry-on and checked baggage.
Carry-on Baggage
Passengers are allowed one carry-on baggage per person, free of charge when flying with InterCaribbean Airways. This baggage must not exceed the dimensions of 12 x 9 x16 inches and must not weigh more than 4kg.
Checked Baggage
Passengers free checked baggage allowance will depend on the origin and destination of the flight. On most routes, the free checked baggage allowance is 1 bag weighing 22.5 kg. On flights to/from Providenciales to/from Cap Haitien, this allowance is 2 bags with a total weight of 31.5 kg combined. However, this allowance is subject to change, and will be confirmed during the booking process.
Cabin Classes
There is currently only one type of class in the cabins of this airline, Economy Class. This means that passengers all have a very similar flight experience. However, there are different types of fares available to purchase to help personalise your flight:
Saver Fare
The saver fare provides passengers with a cheap option to fly. This ticket type is non-refundable and requires you to book in advance to get the cheapest fare. Changes to the ticket can be made, subject to a fee by both the airline and often the travel agent. Passengers will also get free seat selection.
Best Fare
The best fare is a good price, but with some restrictions and charges for changes applying. This fare also includes a free selection of your seat.
Flex Fare
This flexible ticket means that it is free to change the departure dates or cancel the ticket. However, this may still be subject to travel agent change fees. This induces a free choice of where you will sit on the plane.
Seats
There are 30 seats within the cabin. Each seat has 31" of pitch and 17" of width.
In-flight Entertainment & WIFI
There isn't any in-flight entertainment system onboard interCaribbean Airways flights. There may be an in-flight magazine to read, but it's subject to availability.
WIFI
Intercaribbean Airways doesn't have WIFI available on any of its flights.
Food & Drink
Intercaribbean Airways doesn't have a meal service onboard its flight but it does offer its passengers light refreshments, including soft drinks and small snacks.
Check-In
InterCaribbean Airways passengers must check in at the airport since the airline doesn't offer online check in.
Online Check-in
InterCaribbean Airways do not currently have the facilities to offer their passengers online check-in for their flights.
Airport Check-in
InterCaribbean Airways passengers travelling on domestic flights can check in between 2 hours and 30 minutes before their flight is scheduled to depart. For international flights, airport check-in will still open 2 hours before their flight but will close 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.
Frequent Flyer Programme
InterCaribbean Airways frequent flyer programme is called Cacique Rewards.
Cacique Rewards
interCaribbean Airways offers a frequent flyer program called Cacique Rewards, which rewards passengers that fly regularly with the airline. Passengers earn points for each flight segment flown on interCaribbean Airways (JY flight numbers, codeshare not included).
Passengers can use the points that they earn through Cacique Rewards to book future flights on the airline.
Airline Alliance
interCaribbean Airways isn't part of an airline alliance. However, it does have a standalone interline agreement with British Airways, which takes connects passengers from London to several of interCaribbean Airways destinations.
Special Services
InterCairbbean Airways offers a number of in-flight services for passengers who require any special assistance.
Unaccompanied Children (UMNR)
InterCaribbean Airways allows passengers between the ages of 5 and 11 to fly unaccompanied. If you're child is travelling solo, they must be at the check-in desk at least 45 minutes before the flight departure time. InterCaribbean Airways allow children to travel unaccompanied as long as the parent/guardian has filled in the unaccompanied minor form.
Pregnant Mothers
InterCaribbean Airways allows pregnant women to travel between the 6th and 8th month of pregnancy but a medical certificate must be presented before flying stating that the passenger is fit to fly. From the 8th month of pregnancy, InterCaribbean Airways only allow pregnant women to fly for special reasons but a fit to fly form must be shown.

interCaribbean Airways operates an extensive network of flights between the Caribbean Islands, including flying to: Antigua, The Bahamas, The British Virgin Islands, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and St. Maarten.

Hub Airport
Providenciales International Airport
Providenciales International Airport is the main airport of the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is located on the island of Providenciales in Caicos Islands, and currently has one runway which has recently been extended along with a recently built terminal building.
The airline is also the hub for Caicos Express Airways, but also operates services for a number of other airlines. For example, American Airlines, Bahamasair, Southwest Airlines and Air Canada all operate services from this airport.
