Notice: Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos (ITA) has ceased operations as of December 2021

About Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos (ITA)

ITA Transportes Aéreos Ltda (also known as ITA, or Itapemirim) was a new Brazilian airline, based at São Paulo 's São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport.

The airline, which belongs to the Itapemirim Group, was founded in 2020 and began operating services in June 2021. ITA Transportes Aéreos Ltda is the second attempt by the Itapemirim Group to establish an airline, following Itapermirim Transportes Aéreos, which operated between 1991 and 2000. The airline initially began operating domestic services across Brazil with 1 Airbus A320 aircraft. ITA is on a mission to put passengers first and will be the first domestic airline in Brazil to offer free baggage allowance to all passengers, in addition to offering more space between seats. However, as of December 2021, the airline has ceased operations and its air operators certificate (AOC) has been suspended by the Aviation Agency of Brazil.

Baggage

Carry-on Baggage

Each passenger can bring 1 carry-on bag. This bag must have a maximum weight of 10 kg. In addition to this one carry-on bag, passengers can also bring one personal item, which might be a small purse, laptop case or a baby bag.

Please note that the airline has suspended its baggage policy as it has suspended all services since December 2021.

Checked Baggage

The following checked baggage allowance will apply to all passengers. Each passenger may check-in one bag to be transported in the hold of the aircraft. This bag must not exceed 23kg's in weight, and will be checked at the airport. If the bag exceeds this weight, then excess baggage fees will apply.

Check-In Information

Online Check-In

Online check-in will be available for flights operated by ITA Transportes Aéreos Ltda, and can be completed through the airline's website.

Airport Check-In

As well as online check-in, passengers will also have the option to do so at the airport, by arriving at one of the airline's check-in desks. Passengers must arrive 1h30 (one and a half hours) before to flight departure. Airport check-in closes 40 minutes before departure.

Cabin Classes

What is seating like?

There was one cabin class onboard ITA's flights: Standard Economy. The airline had stated that it provides much more personal space for passengers, with greater legroom and space between seats. ITA wants all passengers to sit comfortably and have a premium experience. There will be 162 seats available, configured in a 3-3 formation.

Facilities

The airline's aircraft were fully equipped, with W/C facilities and galley space to enable flight attendants to serve light meals and snacks, as well as hot and cold drinks. These services were complementary. There was plenty of storage space in the overhead compartments, as well as under the seats.

Ticket Fares

Within the Economy Class cabin, passengers were able to choose from the following 4 ticket fares: PROMO RATE, LIGHT RATE, RATE PLUS, and ITA RATE. These different rates equated to different tiers which determine the level of flexibility of the ticket, as well as benefits such as priority boarding. The PROMO fare will be the least flexible, while the ITA fare will be the most flexible and enable passengers to cancel their flights for a 95% refund. The ticket fare options will be detailed during the booking process so that you can choose the best fare option for you.

Frequent Flyer Program

The airline had offered a frequent flyer program called 'ITA Clube', however, this has since been suspended due to the airline ceasing operations.

Airline Alliance

The airline is not currently part of an airline alliance program.
