About Thomson Airways

Thomson Airways was a British airline and subsidiary of the TUI Group, which offered a range of travel services to cater to leisure and holiday travellers. Thomson Airways operated flights to a number of destinations across Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Asia.

In 2017, Thomson Airways rebranded to TUI Airways. The parent company of Thomson Airways decided to unify if brands and transition all of its airlines to operate under the TUI name.

Baggage Policy

Please read below to find out more about Thomson Airways' baggage policy. Thomson Airways had different baggage policies for carry-on and checked baggage.

Carry-on Baggage

Thomson Airways allowed passengers to bring one piece of carry-on baggage on board. The maximum dimensions for the carry-on baggage couldn't exceed 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm, including any handles and wheels. Carry-on baggage couldn't exceed 5 kg. Additionally, passengers were often permitted to bring a small personal item, such as a laptop bag or a handbag, alongside their hand baggage.

Checked Baggage

The checked baggage allowance for Thomson Airways varied based on the fare you purchased at the time of booking and the destination which you were travelling to/from. Typically, on long-haul flights, the allowance ranged from 15 kg to 20 kg per person. For short-haul flights within Europe, the allowance was usually 15 kg per person.

Cabin Classes

Thomson Airways passengers could choose to fly in the Economy or Premium Club cabin class.

Economy Class

Economy class was the standard cabin class offered by Thomson Airways. In this cabin, passengers were provided with a comfortable and affordable travel experience. Passengers travelling in Economy Class had access to amenities such as in-flight meals and beverages, entertainment options, and complimentary or paid seat selection, depending on the fare type and route.

Premium Club

Thomson Airways also offered a premium cabin class called Premium Club, which provided enhanced services and amenities for passengers seeking a higher level of comfort. Passengers travelling in Premium Club could enjoy additional benefits such as increased legroom, wider seats, enhanced dining options, priority check-in and boarding, and access to dedicated lounges at selected airports.

Online Check-in

Passengers could check in online through the Thomson Airways website. Online check-in usually opened 24 hours before the scheduled departure time and allowed travellers to select seats, print boarding passes, and sometimes even pay for additional services or upgrades.

Thomson Airways passengers could check in at the airport counter. Passengers would need to show their travel documents and receive their boarding passes from the airline staff.

Frequent Flyer Programme

Thomson Airways didn't offer a frequent flyer programme. But, TUI Group, the parent company of Thomson Airways, operates a loyalty program called "TUI Blue Awards" that allows members to earn points and redeem them for discounts, upgrades, and other benefits.
